Are you #BAWSE ?

Cheers to another New Year 2019 which, builds the hope to fulfill our golden dreams, hope to achieve that desired body weight, to create a miracle in our lives, which we wished to accomplish last year or even for yesteryears, but somehow failed.

So this is another New Year. Another chance to win over all our failures. Thank you God for bringing this hope in our lives.

Let us allow this year to bring amazing change in our lives, let’s write a wish list and fulfill them.

But WAIT !

Were we not doing this on every New Year’s Eve? Of course we did. We all made wish lists and still failed to achieve our goals. Why did this happen with me over and over.

To know the answers, I did a kind of survey, I got to know that I am not alone. I found many people were experiencing the same problem – problem of getting deviated from the goals without realising. They were all getting deviated from their New Year Goals, just like me. Days after Days and Years after Years pass by and we do the same thing write the wish list without achieving them.

Some questions just popped in my mind – So does this put me at ease that I am not alone who is making such blunders in my life. Hurray ! I have company. Or even an easy thing to do is just stop making a wish list? No wish list, no guilt of not achieving it.

The answer in my head is “NO”. If your answer is the same then read till the end, because I have decided that I will not take 2019 the way it is and make it another yesteryear of failures.

So I was just trying to get answers to my questions and I happened to go through a video on #YouTube by #LillySingh. I found her very interesting person. She is that “Bindass” girl (Don’t worry, be happy types) who loves to share her knowledge without any hitch.

A small introduction of Lilly Singh to my knowledge:

Lilly is known by her YouTube channel #Superwoman. She is a Canadian YouTuber, vlogger, comedian, writer and actress. According to #Forbes Lilly Singh was the highest paid YouTuber in 2016 and remains a top Influencer in 2017. Her videos are viewed over 2 billion and subscribed by over 14 million people. She released her first book in 2017,How to be a Bawse: A Guide to Conquering Life, which became a #1 New York Times best-seller.

In one of her events, she had decoded her mantras on how to become a #Bawse and I would like to share these with you. Also I will tell you what it means.

First let’s learn about what sort of distractions we face. We offen hear from people or say it ourselves :

“Hey I want to start my day early. But it’s winter and I can’t get up from my bed. That warm blanket is the culprit.”

” I want a better health but will diet from tomorrow. Let me enjoy my favourite Strawberry and Cream.“

“Let me check my mobile, Is there any update from my fans. I don’t want to miss any good msg”

“I want to start my own business but I don’t have enough Money. So let me follow some one’s orders for now, later I will persue my dream”.

“ This TV serial is interesting, I will finish my work later.”

“ Let me party tonight, will write that blog later.”

In all the above situations we have proven to have a weak mindset, because we have failed to achieve our true goals which were on the wish list. We have no control over our own mind, Isn’t that frustrating.

Lilly Singh has nicely explained on how to master your own mind. She spoke about FOMO ( FEAR OF MISSING OUT) as the main culprit. According to her, we all have two choices. One is RIGHT – which leads us to achieve our goals, and the other is Evil which is played by our weak mind which takes us away from achieving goals. We need to choose by evaluating both the decisions, whether it is temporary happiness or a permanent. Win over your FOMO.

Exercise 1 : Win over FOMO and Master the mind

Take a big sheet of paper and divide into half on left side column put GOALS ACHIEVED and on right side put FOMO. Every time you make that decision, consciously check if your Goals are achieved over your FOMO or its vice-versa and write it down in respective columns. At the end of day, Week and Month see how you are taking conscious decisions.

Lets take the above examples one by one :

FOMO OF SATISFYING THE CRAVINGS wins over HEALTHY FOOD LEADS TO HEALTHY BODY

Let me check my mobile, BEFORE I START MY WORK

FOMO OF GETTING UPDATE wins over BEING PRODUCTIVE AND BUILDING FUTURE

I want to start my own business but I don’t have enough Money.So let me follow some one’s orders for now, later I will pursue my dream.

FOMO OF NOT EARNING MONTHLY INCOME WHICH MEANS NO PARTY, NO MOVIES, NO SOCIAL GATHERINGS wins over GET FINANCIALLY FREE AND INDEPENDENT LIFE

This TV serial is interesting, I will finish my work later.

FOMO OF ENTERTAINMENT wins over BEING PRODUCTIVE AND BUILDING FUTURE

Let me party tonight, will write that blog later.

FOMO OF HAPPINESS AND CELEBRATION wins over BEING PRODUCTIVE AND BUILDING FUTURE

When we do this over a period of time, we will get used to taking decisions consciously and wisely. Soon we will master our mind and give preference to Long terms Goals than FOMO.

Lilly Singh believes that there is no short cut to success. We must hustle hard all the time. Nothing can happen over night. She has worked hard year after year to build this empire of subscribers.

Exercise 2 : WORK HARD EVERY DAY, EVERY HOUR and EVERY MINUTE WITHOUT ANY EXCUSE.

Cut the clutter and distraction with the above exercise – winning over FOMO.

Exercise 3 : Turn Heads and be a Bawse

She gives an amazing example of Exorcist, that the ghost does not turn her head like that, it turns the head because you have entered in the room. Similarly, you need to be super confident and a Bawse for whom people turn heads for.

Exercise 4 : Be Unapologetically Yourself

Lilly remembers her chat with a few celebrities and they all believe in one thing that is accept yourself as you are. If you are fat accept your body. of course you can work on it but if it doesn’t work, don’t be ashamed. If you get acne, don’t be ashamed. Its natural or hereditary for some. If you are short don’t feel inferior. Accept your complexion, hair or body as it is. Don’t give a damn to people who bully you.

Exercise 5 : Add value

Add values to people’s life. If I am her friend, what value can I add to her life. Make this friendship more meaningful. If you are working for some one, add value in a way that helps the employer / client.
Don’t just make a hobby, add value.

Last but not the least a Bawse is a human being who exudes confidence, turns heads, reaches goals, finds inner strength, gets hurt efficiently and smiles genuinely- because they’ve fought through it all and made it out the other side. The double-handed praise was created for them.

Similar to BOSS, except this means being a boss at life AKA being Confident, Successful etc. This word was created by Lilly Singh.
